The City of Scottsboro is currently using the following International Building Codes:
2003 Editions of the International Building Code, International Residential Code, International Existing Building Code, International Plumbing Code, International Mechanical Code, International Fuel Gas Code, International Fire Code, and the 2000 Edition of the National Fire Protection Association Life Safety Code and the 2002 Edition of the International Electrical of The National Electrical Code, All being published by the International Code Council and The National Fire Protection Association.
Our professional staff is trained to administer Building Codes and perform inspections while maintaining the small town American way of serving our citizens and customers.

Sue Rivers is the Office Manager of the Building Inspection Department.    She has 17 years experience in all areas of the department.  She is responsible     for assisting citizens and contractors with requests for Building, Plumbing,    Electrical and Mechanical permits and assists the City Engineer with the Board    Of Zoning Adjustment and Planning Commission.

Mike Carter is the Chief Building Official, working in the Inspection Department for 31 years.  Mike is the Department Administrator, is ICC Certified and performs Industrial, Commercial and Residential inspections.

John Moses is Building and Electrical inspector.  John was an Electrical Contractor from 1982 till 1994, when he became employed with The City Of  Scottsboro. John is ICC Certified and does all types of Field Inspections,Flood Plain Management, specializing in Electrical installation.

He attended Jacksonville State University and Drake State Technical College and was a Custom Home Builder with over 30 years experience.  Rick is an ICC Certified Building Inspector and performs all types of Plan Reviews, Field Inspections and Flood Plain Management.
